Sometimes I am a fly on the wall. The children don't seem to notice that I am here at all. Course usually this "ignoring" me gift they have is occuring while I am telling them to clean, practice piano, do their homework or feed a pet. However, every once in awhile I get to hear "kid conversations" with friends.

Tonight the conversation was between Spidey and Mr.A. They were talking about college. Spidey wanted to know if Mr.A was going to college for a "simple person" degree, a masters or a doctors degree. He explained that a doctors degree was the best, but that he was going to do a masters because he could boss people around that way. Huh? So I listened more. MrA didn't understand so Spidey explained - a "simple person" degree is for 2 years so it would be easy to get, then you go for more years and get a better degree that would let you live at a college and you could have your own apartment and your parents would still pay and you could go to a lot of parties too. After that there is the Master degree. A Master degree is not teaching you to be a slave owner (I think maybe this information came from the recent section SuperStar learned about slavery - maybe?). He explained a Master degree would make you the "master" of whatever you are learning to do. Spidey said this is what he will be getting because sometimes your parents will pay for this too, but parents never pay for your Doctor degree. They didn't define what a Doctor degree is.

Instead they went on to talk about what they would become the Master of. Spidey is going to be the Master of Driving an Airplane. Hmm......I guess pilots need a degree don't they? MrA is going to be the Master of Restaurants. Then they began bartering back and forth about MrA hiring Spidey - he promised 8 breaks for each shift he worked. Spidey was having nothing to do with it. At least he got that part right - maybe, since surprising to him he will have to work to pay for the parties he attends when he is becoming a Master.

I love being a fly and you don't want to know the gross stuff they said after - you would never eat with them again.
